Long live art. Long live support.

Art and music allow us to make connections within ourselves, and with other like-minded individuals. If you are an artist or musician at heart, and you're deprived of the knowledge and resources to pursue art and music, it's hard to be your best self. CAC is about empowering student artists and musicians who need tools and knowledge to successfully pursue their creative interests.

Since our inception in 2015, CAC has assisted over 700 students in Maine and New Hampshire, and has provided music & art lessons for over 300.

Continuum Arts Collective (C.A.C.) provides K-12 students equitable access to the materials, instruction, and experiences they need to flourish. C.A.C. was founded in the summer of 2015 by artists, musicians, and educators, received its 501(c)3 nonprofit status from the U.S. Federal Government in February 2016, and is a registered charity in Maine and New Hampshire. We champion diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice and support students of all races, skin colors, economic backgrounds, religions, genders, gender identities or expressions, sexual orientations, national origins, genetics, and disabilities. We primarily but are not limited to serving student artists and musicians of all experience levels who attend public schools or are homeschooled in cities and rural areas.

Our Music Materials Program includes all musical instruments: strung, wind, brass, keyed, electronic, and percussive. Our Arts Material Program provides students with supplies for the visual arts, sculpture, fashion design, photography, and videography. These materials are typically new, but we also enjoy support from various artists and musicians who donate instruments, art supplies, cameras, and audio equipment to support our mission. These donations are used to supplement the new materials we provide and are also renovated and distributed to various alternative education programs, such as the Intro to Rock Program at Old Orchard Beach High School, where students learn songs as a group on donated instruments and audio gear, and can also apply for individual instruction and their own new instrument.

C.A.C.'s Arts and Music Instruction Programs provide free and reduced-rate group and individual music and art lessons through partnerships with the Portsmouth Music & Arts Center (PMAC), the Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM), and several private music instructors. These lessons include visual arts, photography, voice, guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, piano, cello, viola, piano, and wind and brass instruments.

Our Experiences Program includes hosting regular open mic events, where students share songs, read poetry, and display artwork. We also host public-facing events such as our Revel in the Meadow, a family-friend arts and music festival where student musicians perform alongside professionals, and artists display their artwork for public consumption. We also send students to art and music camps at venues such as the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and the Spartan Drum & Bugle Corps.

C.A.C. partners with a network of teacher and school administrator liaisons throughout Maine and New Hampshire, who assist students with identifying and applying for materials, instruction, and experiences to assist in their development. In spring 2022, we partnered with local libraries to establish "Try Before You Apply" programs, which allow students to experiment with various stringed and keyed instruments before applying for their own. Other partnerships include Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New Hampshire, The Key Collective, Biddeford Ready!, and the York County United Way.

The continuum in our name comes from supporting the current generation of musicians by compensating them for performing at various private and public-facing fundraising events. These events also provide a venue for visual artists and other artisans to promote and sell their work. In essence, C.A.C. supports professional artists and musicians to help seed the next generation of artists and musicians.
